Furnace Installation in Spangle
When a furnace fails for good, or a cracked heat exchanger makes it unsafe, we replace it with a unit sized to your home's actual heat loss. The estimate costs you nothing, the price is on paper before we touch anything, and the new furnace starts up clean and runs quietly.
When replacing the furnace is the right call
Most furnaces we replace have one of two problems: the heat exchanger has cracked from years of heating and cooling cycles, or repairs now cost more than the furnace has left to give. A cracked exchanger can let combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, mix with the air moving through your home. That is not something we patch.
If a repair still makes sense, we say so and point you to our furnace repair service instead. If replacement is the better answer, we show you why with photos and readings, then size the new unit with a load calculation rather than copying the label on the old one. Many older furnaces in the area were oversized from the start, which causes short cycling, uneven rooms and extra wear on the igniter and blower.
What a furnace installation includes
- Heat-load calculation
- We measure rooms, note insulation and window types, and calculate how many BTUs your home loses on a cold winter night. That number sets the furnace size, not the old nameplate.
- Efficiency and venting choice
- A high-efficiency condensing furnace, 95 percent AFUE or better, vents through PVC pipe and needs a condensate drain. An 80 percent unit uses a metal flue. We explain which fits your home and why.
- Removal and haul-away
- We disconnect gas and power, remove the old furnace and take it with us. Floors along the path get covered first.
- Gas, electrical and condensate hookups
- A fresh shutoff valve and a sediment trap go in on the gas supply just ahead of the unit. Then the furnace is wired up, and the condensate line is routed away from any unheated space where it could freeze.
- A furnace on the public record
- The paperwork is ours to file, and once the unit is running an inspector looks over the gas connection, venting and clearances. That signed-off record helps later, whether you sell your home or need to file an insurance claim.
- Start-up and combustion check
- We test gas pressure, temperature rise across the heat exchanger and flue draft, then set the thermostat and show you the filter.
Signs your furnace needs replacing, not repairing
A cracked heat exchanger
Cracks usually show near the burner openings or along seams. Once one is confirmed, the furnace should not run again.
Repeated failures each winter
An igniter one year, an inducer motor the next, a control board after that. When repairs stack up on a furnace past about 15 years old, replacement is usually cheaper over time.
Rooms that never even out
An oversized or failing furnace short cycles, heating the room near the thermostat and leaving the far bedrooms cold.
Yellow or lifting burner flames
Healthy flames are steady and blue. Yellow, wavy flames point to poor combustion, which can raise carbon monoxide levels.
Damage after a storm or outage
Power surges and flooding can ruin control boards, gas valves and blower motors. If damage reaches several major parts, a new furnace may cost less than rebuilding the old one.
What moves the price of a new furnace
Two homes of the same size can get very different quotes. The price depends on the furnace itself, what has to change around it, and how easy it is to reach. Our written quote lists each part so nothing gets added later.
Size and efficiency
A larger BTU rating and a higher AFUE cost more up front. A variable-speed blower or modulating gas valve adds cost but runs quieter and more evenly.
Venting changes
Switching from an 80 percent furnace to a condensing model means new PVC venting and a condensate drain, sometimes a condensate pump.
Location and access
Working a furnace out of a cramped crawlspace or attic, then fitting the new one in, eats more labor hours than a swap in an open basement or garage.
Gas and electrical updates
An undersized gas line or an outdated circuit may need correcting to meet current code.
Permit fees
The mechanical permit is part of the job and appears on the quote as its own line.
How installation day runs
- 1
Free in-home estimate
We inspect the old furnace, run the load calculation and look at venting and gas supply. You get a written quote with the model, the scope and every line item before you decide.
- 2
Prep and removal
On install day we shut off gas and power, lay floor protection, and take the old unit out. If your home is cold, we tell you how long the heat will be off.
- 3
Set and connect
The new furnace goes in level on a pad or stand. We make the gas, electrical, venting and condensate connections and leak-test the gas line.
- 4
Start-up and walkthrough
We fire the furnace, record combustion and temperature readings, and walk you through the thermostat and filter changes. Most replacements finish in one day.

Furnace installation questions
How do I know you are not overselling the size?
We show you the load calculation. It lists the heat loss for your home, and the furnace we recommend matches it. A bigger furnace is not better; it short cycles and wears out sooner.
Would a heat pump make more sense than a new furnace?
That comes down to how your house is built and what fuel you use now. A common setup pairs a heat pump with a gas furnace that carries the load on the coldest nights. Our heat pumps page explains that option, including our help claiming Avista rebates and federal tax credits, and we can price both on one visit.
My furnace quit during a storm. Can you just replace it?
Call us first for 24/7 emergency HVAC repair, with no emergency or after-hours fees. We find out what failed. If the damage is limited to a board or motor, a repair often gets you heat back faster than a full replacement.
Will my homeowners insurance cover a new furnace?
Coverage usually depends on the cause, such as a power surge or flooding, rather than age. We document the damage with photos and readings you can give your adjuster, but your insurer makes the decision.
How long will we be without heat?
Most replacements are done in one day, with heat off for several hours. If the swap needs venting changes, we plan the timing with you before we start.
